TrainingDuring Training
Water is important to consume during training as it is vital for optimal performance. Swimmers should drink around 1L of water during training, depending on intensity and sweat loss (AIS Sports Nutrition, 2009). This should be consumed periodically throughout the session in small sips rather than drinking all at once. Sports drinks are a good option to have in addition to water as they contain carbohydrates and electrolytes which provide energy and aid in dehydration prevention (Sharon Rochester, 2002). |
Proper hydration during training is important so constantly drinking water throughout the session is vital and in addition sports drinks can also be consumed. |
