CompetitionSwimming Competitions
Elite swimming competitions are usually held over 3-7 days and are set up in a heat–final format so athletes generally swim the same event twice in one day (AIS Sports Nutrition, 2009). Swimmers often enter into multiple events throughout the competition and must eat for recovery and energy to back up their swims. It is important to have a constant supply of snacks and hydration to resist fatigue and enhance recovery (Sharon Rochester, 2002). |
Competitions often last a few days so a sufficient amount of food and proper hydration is the most imortant thing for peak performance. |
